Students Promoting Environmental Action and Responsibility (SPEAR) promotes sustainability on Claremont McKenna’s campus. SPEAR’s mission is to raise awareness of environmental issues, the impact of climate change, and responsible uses of the earth’s ecosystems and resources by planning events that educate and enlist humanity to practice sustainability and to protect and restore the natural environment.

The big events for this year include participating in Inner Coastal Cleanup Day Oct. 6th, the L.A. Green Festival Nov. 17-18, Bill McKibben’s talk at UCLA Nov. 11th, and the Sustainable Claremont Meeting Oct.1. In addition, this Friday is our annual “Trash on the Lawn Day” in front of Collins Dining Hall, where we will be educating students on recycling and composting practices. We are hoping to improve recycling practices even more this year at CMC through education and signage.

Meetings: Tuesdays from 9PM-10PM in Beckett Lounge (CMC)
