Scripps

Major requirements

1) Introductory Core of three courses: EA10, 20, and 30

2) One Specialized Field from among three in which to develop a course plan:

  • Environmental Science
  • Environmental Policy
  • Society and the Environment

There are two options for course-plan development within any given specialized field: (1) select a pre-designed plan, outlined below, or (2) design your own course plan with your advisor, to include at least 7 but no more than 11 courses total, in addition to the required Core and Capstone courses. Individually designed course plans must show depth in some foundational discipline, or set of closely related disciplines, and must be approved by the Environmental Analysis Program Steering Committee.

3) A Senior Capstone of two courses to include one of the following options:

  • A one semester thesis, Biol/Chem/Phys 191 (Fall) plus EA 191,Senior Environmental Seminar (Spring),
  • A two-semester experimental thesis, Bio/Chem/Physics 188L and 190L (Fall and Spring).

Course Plans

These are the pre-designed course plans (one for each specialized field) to satisfy requirement 2, above. Alternatively, you may design your own course plan with the guidance of your advisor.
